ALL Ireland Glory! It was a weekend not be forgotten for our club and for the parishes of Kilkerrin and Clonberne with our Senior Ladies winning their third All Ireland Club Championship in a row. They beat Waterford's, Ballymacarbry on a scoreline of 1-09 to 0-18 on Saturday evening last. Congratulations to Lynsey Noone who received Player of the Match.
We couldn't be prouder of the Ladies and all that they have achieved. They are credit to their families, club and community.
They returned home to a hero's welcome. They crossed the Shannon with a Gardai escort and we must thank Sean Fahy for his assistance on this. Later that evening, the same bridge was lit in the red and white colours in their honour. Thanks to Aengus O'Rourke for organising that. From Ahascragh onwards, the team were overwhelmed with the amount of bonfires and people out waving flags. We must thank the parishes of Ahascragh, Caltra, Mountbellow, Moylough and Glenamaddy for coming out to support the Ladies. Despite the inclement weather, the team were met with fires and fireworks as they travelled to their hometowns of Clonberne and Kilkerrin. It was overwhelming to see all the people who came out in their droves to support the Ladies. There were bonfires at every crossroad and by-road in the area. Huge crowds met them in both villages. Thanks to everyone who came to support the Ladies. It was very much appreciated. It made the evening an unforgettable one for the team. Thanks to our sponsor, Colin Daly of Primary Plant for his continued support. There are many many more people to thank and we will do that a later date
